DEPARTMENT OF CONSTRUCTION
CONSTRUCTION TECHNOLOGY PROGRAM
1. About the Program
Our program, which was established in 2018 under the Department of
Construction, has started accepting students as of the 2019-2020 academic year.
The program is a technical program that provides education on construction
practices, theory, construction techniques and materials. There is a quota of
30 students in formal education.
2. Purpose
The main purpose of the construction technology program is to train
technical personnel who can work in private and public institutions and
organizations, have theoretical knowledge and practical skills and can use this
knowledge and skills to the maximum extent.
3. Target
It trains graduates who have received the information required by
technological developments, gained application skills, are familiar with the
material, have knowledge in production techniques, can use drawings and norms
related to their profession, have the knowledge and skills to solve
professional problems, can use modern devices and have an associate degree.
4. Program Admission Requirements
Students are accepted through central placement based on the TYT score
according to the exam results organized by ÖSYM.
5. Title Obtained
Students who successfully complete their education receive an associate
degree with the title of Construction Technician.
6. Main Courses Taught in the Program
In this program, basic field courses such as building materials, technical
drawing, mechanics and statics, structural statics, strength, concrete
technology and structural systems, water supply and transmission,
computer-aided drawing, land measurements, soil mechanics, reinforced concrete,
structural repair and reinforcement, structural quantity and cost, highway
construction, steel structures are taught for professional qualifications.
7. Language and Duration of Education
The language of education is Turkish. The duration of education is two
years.
8. Physical Infrastructure
In order to carry out the program; 2 classrooms, 1 technical drawing
classroom and 1 computer laboratory have been allocated. Each of the classrooms
has a capacity of 48 people; smart boards and projection equipment are
available in the classrooms. In addition, the classrooms have central heating
systems and heating systems, as well as air conditioning equipment.
The applied courses in the program curriculum can be processed in the
Construction, Geotechnical and Transportation laboratories within the Faculty
of Engineering on campus when needed.
9. Graduation Requirements
In order to graduate from the Construction Technology Program and obtain an
associate degree, students must successfully complete all of the compulsory and
professional elective courses (equivalent to a total of 120 ECTS) that they
must take in the program and have a general weighted grade point average of at
least 2.00 out of 4.00. These courses also include the internship that is
required after the 2nd semester (30 working days).
10. Employment Opportunities
Our graduates can find employment in all kinds of construction contracting
services, factory construction, housing construction, dam construction, airport
construction, port construction, water transmission line construction, sports
facility construction, construction project design offices, all kinds of
construction inspection services, inspection units of official government
departments, inspection units of local governments, special inspection units,
construction departments of all official or private institutions, project
implementation offices, units providing construction consultancy services, etc.
